Salt Lake City, Utah (PRWEB) October 8, 2008 -- Despite economic downturns, many families across the country are still in desperate need of help for their troubled teens, and a new partnership between placement and consulting firm, Education Consulting Services (ECS), and after-care experts, Homeward Bound, offers these families the assistance they need to achieve greater long-term success.

"We have been impressed, as many of our clients have been, with Homeward Bound's professionalism and positive outcomes," said Dr. George Posner, founder of ECS and director of eastern services. "Many of our families have credited their teen's successful transition home to the aftercare support they received as a family from Homeward Bound. We believe our partnership will allow us to further improve the overall outcome for ECS families."

Through this partnership, ECS will be able to custom-design comprehensive aftercare plans for its clients with the help of transition specialists at Homeward Bound. All ECS clients will receive a complimentary subscription to Homeward Bound's online collaboration, communication, and parent education tool called The Family Bridge. Other available aftercare resources include in-home coaching, 24-hour professional support, and parenting seminars.

"The Family Bridge is truly innovative," said Sarah Finney, a licensed marriage and family therapist and director of western services at ECS. "We've never seen anything like it and are excited to offer this feature to every family we work with."

In addition to offering greater success through aftercare treatment and support, the partnership between ECS and Homeward Bound may also help to make treatment options more affordable for families.

"By including intensive in-home services and multi-systemic support as an option within the overall treatment plan, treatment lengths can be shortened," said Dr. Tim Thayne, founder and CEO of Homeward Bound. "This makes the placement of troubled teens in out-of-home treatment settings more financially feasible to a larger number of families than ever before."

Turnabout/Stillwater Academy and Homeward Bound Unite to Provide Greater Aftercare Services
May 8, 2008

Press Release from Turnabout/Stillwater Academy

Salt Lake City, Utah (PRWEB) May 8, 2008 -- Research shows lasting success among teens graduating from a residential treatment program is largely based on three components: family involvement during treatment, the return to a stable home environment, and the availability of aftercare support for youth and their families. For more than twenty years, Turnabout/Stillwater Academy has been incorporating these fundamentals into its treatment program, and now in partnership with aftercare leader Homeward Bound, Turnabout will offer troubled teens and their families more comprehensive aftercare services aimed at achieving greater long-term success.

"Through our combined efforts, Turnabout's graduating students and families will be more prepared for the real-world and will have higher levels of success than ever before," said Dr. Tim Thayne, founder and CEO of Homeward Bound. "While Turnabout has always been conscientious about how they help parents, this integrated program shows their full commitment to the process of aftercare."

As part of the new aftercare services, every family who comes to Turnabout will be given a Turnabout therapist and a Homeward Bound transition specialist, who work together to prepare teens and their families for the return home. The transition specialist educates parents on the transition process, assists them in making a transition plan, and provides them with vital support after their teen's graduation. Families will also have access to the Family Bridge, Homeward Bound's internet based program used for coordination and communication between the family, the family support team, their Turnabout therapist, and their transition specialist.

"Turnabout has always approached treatment with this end in mind---we want families to be successful after the program," said Scott Jones, program director at Turnabout. "Homeward Bound gives us more tools and experts to do just that, and I believe other treatment programs and professionals will look to our joint model as an example of what is possible in the field."

For more information on Turnabout and its partnership with Homeward Bound, contact Turnabout's program director Scott Jones.

Anasazi and Homeward Bound Team Up
February 22, 2008

Press Release from Anasazi

As you may know, ANASAZI Foundation is considered by many to be a program for families hoping to avoid longer-term, residential care for their children. While the premise is not entirely true (we work closely with many professionals and families who choose residential care after the wilderness experience), the reputation was honestly earned. Because ANASAZI is often the only option for young people who come via our fundraising efforts, it has been our goal over these past 20 years to provide as solid a foundation as possible for those children returning directly home.

Like you, we are well aware of the challenges facing young people who return home after an intensive wilderness experience. This is precisely why we believe our work with parents is as important as our work with their children. This is also the reason ANASAZI is now offering in-home transition services when placement in a subsequent inpatient program is not desired or required.

Families who complete ANASAZI’s 42-day wilderness program now have the option to enroll in an intensive, six-week transition program. Central to the offering is a three-day, in-home visit conducted immediately after treatment by a transition specialist who helps the family identify current issues and agree upon a structure that will produce desired outcomes.

Administered in partnership with the transition management experts at Homeward Bound, the program is designed to help families apply principles learned at ANASAZI to create a home environment that enhances family unity and promotes a lasting and positive change in family behavior.

Other services included in the offering are a panoramic assessment (with input from community, program, and consulting professionals), extensive parent coaching, support via scheduled sessions, and direct access to a transition specialist. Participating families will also receive a one-year subscription to Homeward Bound’s comprehensive Family Bridge™ online resource library.

The new services augment ANASAZI’s existing aftercare program, which provides a year of follow-up training, coaching and support for alumni YoungWalkers and their parents.

The cost for the optional program is $7900, plus air fare required for the in-home visit by the family transition specialist. Feel free to contact us at 800-678-3445 or visit and www.anasazi.org for more information.
